American Playwright Wilson Mizner once said, “The best way to keep you friends is not to give them away.” Which is a pretty awesome quote, considering it says nothing about giving away their phone numbers.
About 2 weeks ago, Pete Wentz asked us good folks at Clandestine Industries to create a shirt exposing Cobra Starship singer Gabe Saporta’s phone number and email address, in hopes that he could reveal both live at the MTV VMAs. And as you may have seen during the broadcast, Pete wore the shirt, but because of some issues with legal, and in a turn of events that could only be deemed “lucky” for Gabe’s phone bill, was unable to show the number fully. But Pete was focused on pranking his good friend and figured this was just a bump in the road.
So, he had us print up a limited amount of the shirt to sell the next day, hoping that what MTV stopped, could be started again by fans purchasing the shirt at ClandestineIndustries.com. We sold a good amount and word got back to Gabe OBVIOUSLY. And that’s when last night, Gabe Saporta tweeted me and asked me to call him.
We now have stopped selling the shirt immediately. I was able to convince Gabe to allow those who have bought the piece already, to still be in line to get it. No worries if you bought one. You’ll have a genuine collector’s item (and a little gift). A piece of contraband even. With one small amazing change. As you can see, we’ve unblurred the number on the shirt. This number is now the phone number printed on the actual shirt and it was printed on the shirt by request of Gabe Saporta.
Ever wanted to get back at your boss? Or be able to stop a prank before it happens and make it even WORSE? Well, we did. We turned the tables and we turned them fast. Go ahead and call the number. It’s real. The quicker the better, cause he has not idea what we did, so he’ll be answering the phone until he figures it out. We pulled a fast one over on the dude who thinks he can prank anyone and everyone. We’re getting the last laugh.
